What does grade N42 , N45 or N52 mean?

Take grade N35 as example, letter "N" is short for neodymium, directing to the magnet type, the number “35” means a neodymium magnet has a maximum energy product of 35MGOe. It refers to the maximum magnetic energy that the material can be stored.

The most common range of N-serials grade usually operate at up to +80 degrees C. Higher temperature grades (NxxM, NxxH, NxxSH, NxxUH, NxxEH, NxxAH) are rated from up to +100 degrees C to a maximum of up to +240 degrees. Magnet shape, working environment and practical application will affect the performance of NdFeB magnets. Temperature as well as wet or humid conditions also matter. Optimal performance is achieved by keeping the intrinsic operating point above the "knee", ideally at the BHmax operating point.
